FOCUS Broadband Employees Donate 400 Children’s Books to Smart Start of Brunswick County
Shallotte, NC – FOCUS Broadband’s employees recently donated 400 children’s books to Smart Start of Brunswick County for their monthly play groups and their Little Free Libraries located across Brunswick County. The cooperative held the employee book drive in late February and collected children’s books over the week leading up to Read Across America Day.
“When we support young children in their earliest years, we prepare them to grow, learn and succeed—and our communities, workforce and economy become stronger and more productive,” said Krista Campana, Smart Start of Brunswick County's Executive Director. “Our community partners are instrumental in making this happen. We would like to give a special thanks to FOCUS Broadband and its employees for prioritizing young children and their families! We are thrilled to get these books into the hands of our youngest readers.”
Smart Start of Brunswick County has been working to ensure that all children, from birth through the age of 5-years-old, are happy, healthy, and ready for Kindergarten since 1994. The non-profit organization facilitates several special projects targeted specifically at enhancing early literacy. Books are provided to young children through Smart Start’s play groups, outreach events, and Little Free Library book-sharing boxes. With these books, Smart Start of Brunswick County aims to foster a love of learning in children and present opportunities for young readers to build their own home libraries.
