FOCUS Broadband Connects First Customers in New Hope Area of Perquimans County
Perquimans County, NC – FOCUS Broadband recently connected their first Perquimans County customers to fiber optic delivered high-speed internet service. Earlier in May, the company announced that internet service was available to order near Woodland Church Road and New Hope Road. Those installations are now taking place. Service is also now available near Highway 17 North and Cartwright Swamp Road outside of Hertford.
“The overall experience has been awesome,” said newly installed customer David Murray. “The technicians during the installation process were both professional and friendly, and they answered all our questions. Since then, the internet has been lightning fast compared to our previous internet service. The change in speed and the Plume app have been incredible so far.”
The Murray family was one of the first to sign up for FOCUS Broadband’s high-speed internet and was the first home connected to the new state-of-the-art network. Additional areas of availability are being added each week as construction of the network progresses. Residents interested in signing up for services can call FOCUS Broadband’s Customer Care at 888-367-2862 or visit www.FasterPerquimans.com to view a service availability and project construction map.
In 2022, FOCUS Broadband was awarded a North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NC DIT) Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) Grant to bring high-speed internet to over 1,900 addresses in Perquimans County. FOCUS Broadband was awarded a second GREAT Grant in 2023 to extend their service to an additional 988 addresses. Once work on both projects is complete, over 2,900 addresses will have access to internet with speeds up to 5Gig. Both FOCUS Broadband and the Perquimans County Government provided additional funding to complete the projects.
FOCUS Broadband is also working on two additional GREAT Grants that will serve residents in rural areas of Chowan County. The first phases of their Chowan County broadband project are anticipated to become available in early June.
