FOCUS Broadband Completes Work on NCDIT GREAT Grant Project in Columbus County
Columbus County, NC – FOCUS Broadband has finished work on their $4 million North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) Grant project in Columbus County. High-speed internet access is now available to over 1,500 homes and businesses in rural areas near Evergreen, Acme-Delco and Prosper.
“We’re proud of our growth in Columbus County,” said FOCUS Broadband CEO, Keith Holden. “Thanks to broadband programs like the GREAT Grant program, and the USDA ReConnect program, we’ve been able to expand our fiber optic network throughout rural Columbus County and connect residents to high-speed internet. It’s rewarding to see so many residents now connected, and we hope to continue this growth in the future.”
This marks the fourth GREAT Grant-funded project completed by FOCUS Broadband in Columbus County. Through the projects, FOCUS Broadband has extended their fiber optic network to serve over 4,900 addresses throughout the county. Earlier this year, the company also announced the completion of its USDA ReConnect Grant project, making fiber optic internet service available to over 2,000 addresses located near Hallsboro, Tabor City, Lake Waccamaw, and areas north of Whiteville.
FOCUS Broadband has been serving the residents of Columbus County since 2010, with its first expansion into the Nakina and Old Dock areas. Since then, FOCUS Broadband has grown to serve more than 6,000 Columbus County residents and businesses with high-speed internet, home security and automation, wireless services, telephone, and streaming TV.
