What's Next?
You have until the date listed in your letter to make the conversion to MergeTV. Conversion appointments will fill up fast, so we recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible. Please call 888-367-2862 to schedule your appointment. Failure to have your cable TV service converted to MergeTV by the deadline will result in a loss of cable TV service.
- Call our Customer Care Center at 888-367-2862 to schedule your conversion appointment. During the call, let our representative know if you would like to use your own streaming device or rent a MergeTV Box. Information about these can be found below in the Recommended Devices section.
- A FOCUS Broadband representative will assign you a MergeTV username during the call. You will receive an email confirmation and will be prompted to establish your MergeTV password.
- If you choose your own streaming device, download the MergeTV app on that device before your appointment so that you can be ready when your technician arrives.
- After your appointment, watch our MergeTV Instructional Videos to learn more about settings, user profiles, navigating the menus and guide, and available features. These videos can be found in the Instructional Videos section below.
Recommended Devices
To watch MergeTV, you will either need to rent a MergeTV Box or use/purchase your own. If you prefer a numbered remote and a box that replicates the feel of traditional cable TV, then the MergeTV Box is a great option for you. It launches directly into the MergeTV app and allows you to watch content from other streaming services right through the box. A list of recommended devices is shown below. Why is the conversion to MergeTV happening?

Newer technology has changed the cable landscape.
With more people choosing to cut the cord on traditional cable and switching to streaming, there are fewer customers remaining on our old system, which is expensive to operate. As the number of people on traditional cable TV continues to decrease, the cost to maintain the system goes up per remaining customer, making it no longer economically feasible to operate.

Traditional cable TV systems have reached their end of life.
The traditional cable TV systems that have been used by FOCUS Broadband are approaching their end of life and we have been notified that they will soon no longer be supported by the manufacturer. To continue to offer a video product to our customers, and to keep up with the latest customer demands, we must switch everyone over to the MergeTV platform.
What makes MergeTV better?

MergeTV is more cost-effective.
Because MergeTV is software-based and uses high-speed internet to deliver the channels, we are able to deliver cable TV the same way streaming services like Netflix, Prime, and Hulu deliver them. This method is at a lower cost to operate which in turn allows FOCUS Broadband to try to keep the cost of cable TV lower.

With MergeTV, we can offer a streaming box that replicates the feel of traditional cable TV.
Our MergeTV partners have created a streaming box that launches directly into the MergeTV app, so customers who want the feel of traditional cable can still experience it. It also allows you to download and watch other popular streaming apps straight from the box, essentially turning any TV into a smart TV. Those who want to save on monthly cable box fees can also purchase/use their own compatible streaming device.

MergeTV has more features than our traditional cable TV system, including: the ability to pause & rewind live programming, the ability to restart a program already in progress, a look-back feature to watch shows that aired up to 75 hours ago, Cloud DVR with 100 hours of storage included, and over 50 streaming channels not found in our traditional cable TV lineup.
What costs are involved?

There is no charge to convert to MergeTV.
The premise visit charge will be waived for customers who schedule a conversion appointment before the deadline. Those who miss the deadline and allow their service to terminate will have to pay to have their cable service reinstalled.
Can I convert without a premise visit?

Yes, if you already have Internet and are not using a MergeTV Box.
If you choose to use your own compatible streaming device, and already have high-speed Internet through FOCUS Broadband, you can convert to MergeTV without a premise visit.
What happens to my old cable boxes?

Old cable boxes must be returned to a FOCUS Broadband retail location.
Our technicians will remove your old cable boxes from your home during installation. If you do not have an installation by one of our technicians, you must return your old cable boxes to any FOCUS Broadband retail location. Any unreturned equipment will be charged to your account.
What if I don’t want to convert to MergeTV?

The conversion is mandatory.
We understand that change is difficult and that some customers may be reluctant to change. However, due to the reasons mentioned above, all customers are required to either make the switch to MergeTV or choose an alternative for their TV service. We will soon have 10,000 customers utilizing MergeTV, and customer satisfaction among those who have switched is very high.
